How to Write a Budget   Leave a comment

A budget is a tool used to account for all the income and expenses that an individual or family has for a given period of time. Most people write their budgets monthly, but some write them weekly. It’s just a matter of personal preference on which system works best for you.

A budget is extremely valuable in determining your income and your expenses, it helps paint a picture of your financial health and it will let you know how much you can afford to spend on things as well as how much you’ll be able to save.

It’s essential that people write budgets and stick to them, they should also re-examine their expenses from time to time to make sure that they’re keeping within their spending limits for certain things.

Ideally, budget writing should begin early in a person’s life. A person in their early teens should write a budget even if they’re only making as little as $20 or $30 a month. This practice will help the person develop fiscal discipline, which if maintained will carry them through to adulthood and become a normal habit for the individual.
